As of today, our Homestay KEKA HILL VIEW INN housed in mouza – Kankebong Khasmahal, Kalimpong continues to stand in full glory, drawing a steady stream of guests therein.

I and my better – half Sabyasachi Mondal have built up this homestay in its present shape over the years. It is the product of our vigorous initiative and untiring efforts. We ourselves do not belong to Kalimpong. Originally, we are from Diamond Harbour, 24 Parganas. Firstly, little did we think of building up a homestay in the hills. But both of us are imbued with an inborn passion for travelling to various places of interest in The hills and by the seas. We have toured in the different places of our country and abroad. When touring Kalimpong in 2014, we took fancy to its pleasant climate, the warm hospitality of its people, its friendly surroundings and above all, its scenic beauty of nature. We felt irresistibly drawn to the place. Incidentally, around that time we came across a piece of information in the internet-advertising sale of 2.5 acres of land in the hilly Kankebong Khasmahal mouza in the backwaters of Kalimpong. Immediately we made proper contact with the rightful owners of the land and purchased the land outright. Thereafter, we got the piece of land properly mutated in our
favour from the local Land Reforms Office. Initially we thought of developing the land as a farmhouse. For that purpose, we constructed a small two-room cottage on the land. We used to visit the place occasionally and enjoyed spending holidays there.

Very shortly, the emerging trend of building up home stays in the offbeat location s in the hills has caught on in full swing. Our land in Kankebong Khasmahal is clearly an offbeat location. We felt inclined to swim with the rising tide. Subsequently we built up a two-storied 4-room modern homestay. This in 2022 comes into being our Homestay KEKA HILL VIEW INN named after my mother.

Our Homestay KEKA HILL VIEW INN now nestles amidst the wooden hills and the greeneries of the surrounding forests. It has now emerged as the Sylvan Retreat for the work-weary guests from the cities. It is 72 km away from New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri. It is also 14 km off from Kalimpong proper. It is far from the madding crowd and free from all kinds of air and sound pollution. Guests visiting our Homestay will have the opportunity to stay in an ambience steeped in solitude and tranquillity. From the balcony itself, they will be able to have a glimpse of the gleaming Kanchenjunga in the clear morning sky. Sights of the nocturnal beauty of the not -so-far Kalimpong town resembling a necklace of lights will be visible to their eyes.

We have tried to equip our Homestay with the modern amenities as far as practicable in such an offbeat location. We provide fresh and homely food to the visiting guests mostly according to their desires. We do all-out efforts to make their stay comfortable and homely.
While staying in our Homestay, the guests will be in a position to secure easy access to the notable places of interest in and around Kalimpong. They may also visit Lava and Lolegaon from here. Kankebong Khasmahal mouza wherein our Homestay is housed borders on Lolegaon forest that gives shelter to a variety of birds including peacocks and animals like deer and rabbits.

Since the formal opening of our Homestay in October 2022, it has witnessed footfall of more than 1000 families till date. Most of them have enjoyed their stay in our Homestay. They have been all praise for the locational advantage of our Homestay and for the quality of service and food provided to them. We feel particularly privileged and honoured to have some of the most dignified guests amongst them such as renowned university and college professors, eminent doctors , businessmen and sportsmen. They have also heaped profuse adulation on our service. Most of them have enjoyed the enchanting beauty of nature to their hearts’ content.

Drawing on the impetus from the feedback of our visiting guests , we are at work on construction of another 4-room 2-storied Homestay ( which is underway) in close proximity of the existing homestay in order to accommodate more guests in the homely atmosphere during the coming days.
